I am Wolwedans Dune Camp. Nestled along the edge of a 250-meter high dune, I offer pristine views out into the burnt orange savannah backed by the majestic Nubib Mountain Range. Just south of Sossusvlei I boast a total of 8 safari tents strewn along the sand in a crescent moon shape. Pitched on elevated wooden platforms I provide my guests with an intimate and unique lodging experience in a privately owned conservancy of over 200,000 hectares. Spot the occasional Oryx at the nearby watering hole, meet fellow travelers around the evening bonfire while sipping on some hot tea and exchange stories during the family-style dinner. My days are spectacular, but the beauty doesn’t stop after the sun has set. My unrivaled reserve is Africa's only International Dark Sky Reserve, so sit back and watch as the 1000s of stars clearly sparkle into view against the pitch black backdrop.

Scenic Drives: Choose between morning, evening and day drives. Explore vast stretches of undisturbed nature and learn about the big as well as the small desert dwellers and their battles to survive in this harsh and unforgiving environment. From 2 - 6 people, 3h - 4h long, drinks provided. Walking Safari: Head out on an informative & guided walking safari along ancient hunting grounds of the San bushmen and learn about the micro-flora and fauna found throughout the southeast of the NamibRand Nature Reserve. Enjoy your lunch under the shade of old camel-thorn trees. From 1 - 8 people between the ages of 10 and 70, lunch & drinks provided. Bushman Walk: Be guided by one of the Khoisan men, from the south of Namibia, and walk across the dunes and savannah that surrounds the camp. The walk is inclusive in your stay and focuses on the micro-fauna and flora. The walk takes either place in the morning or in the afternoon. Hot Air Ballooning: Float peacefully above the dune belt and enjoy 360º views of the breathtaking vistas Namib Desert has to offer. Champagne breakfast at the landing spot, ~1h long. Scenic flights: Enjoy an aerial view of the Namib Desert and a glimpse of the mysterious & untouched Atlantic coastline from the air. NatureWings is Wolwedans sister company and offers a multitude of enticing scenic flights to the nearby Sossusvlei or sights in the far south of Namibia. Flights depend on aircraft availability & the final price is determined based on the number of passengers and the desired route. Village Tour: Gain insight into the back of house operations at Wolwedans. Explore the advanced water management system and grey-water infrastructure as well as the solar panel field. Wolwedans has heavily invested in energy-reduction and runs all of the camps entirely on solar power. All waste at Wolwedans is recycled and much of the camp’s fresh produce is grown on-site. Wine & Dine: Wolwedans can create lasting desert memories by serving bush dinners within the beautiful setting of the NamibRand Nature Reserve or design champagne laced breakfasts in a private natural setting for newlyweds and honeymooners. Advanced arrangement is necessary with a nominal fee. Horseriding: Your first horseback ride is included in your stay. Besides walking, there is no better way to explore the vast landscape of the NamibRand. Please arrange your horseback riding experience prior to your arrival and be aware that you cannot book between the months of December - March as it is too hot for the horses. Wellness: Enjoy a collection of therapies in the comfort of your tent or out in the surrounding desert landscape. Choose between a Swedish Massage, Marula Oil Massage, Indian Head Massage or a Traditional Foot Massage. Manicures & Pedicures are also available upon request. Pre-booking is required for all wellness activities. Additional Information: 4x4 Toyota Land Cruisers can be rented through Wolwedans for 2500NAD per day. This will allow you to fly into Windhoek and self-drive to the NamibRand Reserve, where the car can be conveniently parked for the duration of the stay. Once you arrive at Wolwedans, you will only be charged when you use the vehicle and not for the days that it is parked at the base camp. 2-day minimum rental, excluding VAT and daily excess insurance.
