I am Hacienda Sac Chich. As you pass through my front gates and head down the driveway you will find your home away from home; comfort and serenity await. I am a 3 house complex amidst big palm trees and luscious foliage. The cozy and intimate open spaces create a feeling of being inside, yet exposed to the sounds and elements of nature. Hang in hammocks in the shade, or cool off in the beautiful backyard pool.

You are in the land of the cenotes! Within an hour drive you can find well over 10 different cenotes. The closest ones to me are Nay Yah and Noh-Mozon. Near here is also a Mayan ruin. Unlike Chichen Itza or Tulum, Mayapan will be practically empty and the ruins can be climbed (it is always so cool to view the world birds eye).

The biggest city in the Yucatan state is Merida, with over 750K people. It is about a 45-minute drive from my gate to get to the Centro. Walk the cute streets of the historic district and grab some traditional Mexican food.

Izamal, an entire city colored in yellow is also only about a 40 minute drive away and definitely worth a visit. If you already make the trek to stroll the Amarillo streets of Izamal, make sure to stop at some of the cenotes in the area (Ucil is one to try and find). You may have to hire a guide to take you, but you won’t regret the effort.

Eva — the 10 year old German Shepard — is all bark no bite. Make sure to get some soccer games in with her (she will most likely win with her impressive dribbling skills) as well as some good belly rubs.

The structure was originally built as most Haciendas in the area as a factory to produce sisal. Sisal is a natural rope made from the fibers of a particular species of the Agave. It was the Nylon of its day.

There is an 85 ft. smokestack still standing on the property from when it was producing the Sisal rope. Within it there is a ladder that leads right up to the top. If you aren’t afraid of heights, climb up and witness breathtaking views of the property and the surroundings. Feel like the King of the Jungle.

Hacienda Sac Chich is home to the beautiful property of Casa Sisal, set out in the distance in its minimal grandeur. If you want a more modern vibe, you can choose to pick this place instead.

Renting the Hacienda starts at $500 USD per night.

Expect to wake up and fall asleep to the sounds of the jungle. Expect high ceilings with a lot of space to relax, enjoy and inhale the fresh jungle air. Expect the old with the new. Expect color. Pinks, blues, yellows, browns, greens, all working together to create a memorable experience. Expect a home away from home. It is only natural that you won’t want to leave.

Big and beautiful en-suite bathroom. Mosquito net. A/C & fans. Closet. Comfortable queen bed. Love to detail.
